Yesterday we went to the outlet mall shopping. My oldest son got his first paycheck and he wanted to buy a few things so off we went. It was freezing and windy. And it was Sunday. I generally don’t brave the Outlet Mall on the weekend. I know better. However the cold must has kept a lot of people at bay because it wasn’t nearly as busy as it should have been.
Now as a couponer and someone who does 95% of all my other shopping online it is rare, very rare, that I actually find a deal at the outlets. But on Sunday it wasn’t about me or my deals it was about the oldest child learning to buy for himself with his own money. It didn’t take but a few stores for him to realize what a deal the $5 Old Navy T-shirts were or even the $10 Oakley Shirts. And he found Jeans that he liked at the VF, Lee store for just $9.97.
All in all he did pretty good. He was able to get 2 pairs of shoes (thanks to the Nike and Famous Footwear clearance racks), 2 pairs of jeans, 5 shirts and 6 pairs of socks for $170. He was happy with his purchases and I was happy that he was actually learning how to shop on his own. I was afraid I would be buying his clothes until he was at least 30.
Both the youngest child and the husband got 2 pairs of shoes each. And the child also walked away with 4 new shirts as well. We all benefited from the trip to Rocky Mountain Candy. Truffles, peanut butter buckets, chocolate covered coffee beans and big cookies were just sitting there waiting for us to buy them.
After a great day and a quick stop at the grocery store we came home and rested the rest of the night. It was certainly a busy day.
